The Castle project, which included the renovation of existing space and the addition of 13,000 square feet, earned Gold certification from LEED, the foremost program for the design, construction and operation of green buildings. The project was completed at Nobles in fall 2013.

Designed by Architerra and built by Shawmut Construction, the project implemented practical and measurable strategies for energy efficiency, materials selection and environmental quality. See videos about sustainability efforts and other aspects of the Castle project here.

“Our talented architects, Architerra, and the remarkable folks at Shawmut Construction have managed to revive and restore the historical Castle, while at the same time rejuvenating the building for the next century,” said Head of School Bob Henderson at the reopening of the campus gem.

The original construction of the Castle, designed by H.H. Richardson, was completed in 1890.
