GOA at Nobles

At Nobles, GOA is open to junior or senior students as their sixth course in a given semester. GOA courses are for credit and appear on student transcripts, but they are not calculated in a student’s GPA. Popular GOA courses among Nobles students include Medical Problem Solving, Introduction to Psychology, and Gender Studies. Students participate in GOA courses according to their own schedule, offering flexibility and independence.

The program shares the best teaching from throughout its member schools to a worldwide audience. Member schools include: African Leadership Academy (South Africa)Buckingham Browne & Nichols (BB&N)Concord AcademyThe Dalton SchoolKing’s Academy (Jordan)Lakeside, and Punahou.

 

Ayako Anderson

Global Online Academy Site Director At nobles since 2008

Ayako (Aya) Anderson has been teaching Japanese at Nobles since 2008. She extended her classroom to Global Online Academy in 2012, where she designed and launched Japanese Language through Culture. In addition to her role as a brick-and-mortar and online teacher, she is involved in diversity, equity and inclusion work as a faculty advisor for the Asian student affinity group (A2A) and Big Sibling Program at Nobles. Anderson earned her M.A. in Japanese Pedagogy from the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Columbia University in 2018. Most recently, she taught Japanese at Harvard Summer School in 2019. When she is not teaching, she enjoys painting and cooking.
